The tie-dyed monkey and friends

The performance is over and I have yet to write anything on what we actually did!!  As I’m too lazy to do it all now, if you want to go read about how we created out performance just go read another WODONGA person’s blog, because most of them have donw what we were meant to and written up the process.   The final product we came up with included words pulled out of a large black hat- you can take a guess at the words for yourself   (HINT: includes “planting”, “ideas”, “……”(now counted as a word), ”with”, “our”, “thoughts”, “we”, “make”, “the”, and ”world”.  The words each had a skit attatched, one we improvised two weeks ago, and we performed the skits in the random order they were drawn out of the hat by gullible audience members.

The performance came off really well.  There was no major stuff-ups or dramas and stress levels were at an all time low.  I’m feeling rather like a weather reporter.  Meh.   Anyway I really enjoyed doing it, as did everyone else!

The one thing I found disappointing was that there was no message to our work, no underlying theme connecting all the pieces.  This project was such an excellent opportunity to create something with a strong message, I think it a pity we didn’t take the stimulus as far as we could.  But that’s just me and the way I see things.   As Lana said to me before when I expressed this, the people watching us all found their own different meanings in each of our pieces.  That appeased me slightly.

OOOOOOOHH   *sobs broken heartedly*  IT’S ALL OVER.   *sob sob*   *drools*  Damn, I hate it when that happens.  Stoopid over excitable saliva glands.

     Sad child.

Continuation of booky-connection ramble

Well, where was I children?  Ahh yes, I do believe I was making a connection between the fantasy books being discussed and the VINE project :
The thought that came into my head was just how exactly does fantasy / science fiction connect to our topic “With our thoughts we create the world”?  The thoughts planted on the paper of these books, ideas about other worlds, power, magic, heros, heroines etc.- I wonder, can these have affected or created, in part, our world?

No, I don’t think they can have because the thing is that these ideas come from the world we already know, the one existing around us.  Our scientific knowledge of the universe and the distinct possibility that there are other planets or universes lays the foundation for our imaginations to build other worlds.  The occult, spirituality, religion etc. is the foundation here for magicians and sorcerers, and all the evil powers the good guys have to defeat; the heros and heroines of our every day lives give writers qualities in their characters to build upon.  The thoughts that create these worlds of fantasy all come from the world that already exists around us.

“Through our thoughts we create the world”, well we’re able to change the world and create pockets of society in which we make most of the choices, but what we actually have control over, that is, are able to create in this world, is very little.  On a small scale we can create an amazing ammount of things by using the resources that exist on this earth, but on a larger scale, such as the creation of the world we live in, the creation of ourselves as thinking humans, of animals, and the laws that govern the universe- what control do we have over these things?  A: Sweet nothing.  The world is already created.  We have been given life.  From here we can only build up and then destroy.
This may SEEM like ramble but….. well….yeah OK it is, but it contains ideas (I think), they might have gotten a litte lost among all the words, that’s all.  What I was getting at was how we had no control over the creation of ourselves and the world, hence no control over things such as afterlives, destinies.  So the question really is what ‘world’ can we create with our thoughts??  We can create the society we live in, we can create tangible things such as buildings and freeways amd machines, we are able to create freindships and relationships, but yet there are great limits to us.  I think as a race of people we are far too cocky in our abilities and believe we know all and control all.  When the reality is that when it comes down to it we have no control whatsoever.

My God, this is heinously long.  What a contrast to this afternoon’s bloggage. Yeaaaah well I got interested.  Now all you poor people have to suffer for it when I start rambling.  HA!!  You should never, NEVER have let me blog.

The wet blanket

Well, since I was unsucessful with my attempt to bargain with our precious Lana (teacher of this company of sad children) to get out of this blogging exercise, I’m blogging.  Obviously.

I find myself being very uninterested in this process.  In theory I see that this blogging and sharing of ideas and pictures etc. is a great idea, but that doesn’t mean I’m able to be interested in it at the moment.  The thing I love about drama is the movement and the feeling of getting up there and doing it.  I don’t associate drama with a computer, and I don’t think the two should ever be associated, apart from the computer being a useful resource at times.  But, welcome to drama of the future.  Drama is a representation of life, and as life becomes controlled more and more by computers and technology, I suppose drama will soon start representing this too.

My mind is presently lacking in ideas on this topic.  I was up to the very end of a good book late last night, and being the woeful bookworm I am I couldn’t put it down, so I blame Raymond E. Feist for my current blankness, as it was he who created the book which deprived me of sleep.  Pathetic how we blame other people isn’t it?
